Karen Murphy Therapist

Karen Murphy, P.T.

Owner Karen Murphy is a licensed Physical Therapist. She graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Karen has worked for more than 25 years at Rock PT. She is a strong manual therapist who enjoys Soft Tissue Work and Joint Mobilization. Karen is native to this area and enjoys watching the various sports activities of her growing children.

Kristin Durfee Therapist

Kristin Durfee, P.T.

Owner Kristin Durfee is a licensed Physical Therapist who earned her Bachelor of Science degree in PhysicalTherapy from Russel Sage College in Troy, New York and her certificate in Physical Therapy from Albany Medical College, New York. Kristin is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Private Practice Section. She is also certified by the Professional Health and Fitness Institute as a Personal Fitness Trainer as well as courses in Kinesio and McConnell taping. She specializes in the rehabilitation of injuries to the shoulder and the knee as well as working in the field of geriatrics. Kristin is from Norway and resides in Bethesda.

Karin Lawson Therapist

Karin Lawson

Owner Karin Lawson is a licensed Physical Therapist. She earned her degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Munich, Germany and passed her Maryland Board Exam. She is certified by the International Weightlifting Association as a Weight Trainer. Karin’s special interests include the treatment of musculoskeletal and joint related injuries as well as working with the senior population.

Barbara Dillon Therapist

Barbara Llanso Dillon, P.T., D.P.T.

Staff Physical Therapist Barbara Dillon graduated 1978 from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2005 from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Orthopedic and Geriatric Sections. Her special interests include Osteoporosis Management and Bone Health. Barbara has worked at Rock PT since 1990.

Patricia Burns-Smith Therapist

Patricia Burns-Smith, P.T.

Staff Physical Therapist Patricia earned her degree in Physical Therapy atNorthwestern University Chicago, Illinois .She received certification in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) and training in Manual Therapy through the University of St.Augustine. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Before joining Rock PT in 2000 Patricia worked in the field of orthopedics and neurology in acute care hospitals and was chief therapist on the neurological team at Washington Hospital Center. Since joining Rock PT Patricia has become a skilled manual therapist with special interests in orthopedic pathologies, pain syndromes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rotator cuff and impingement syndromes and joint replacements.

Michelle

Michelle Parent, P.T.

Staff Physical Therapist Michelle Parent, a lifelong Marylander, attended the University of Maryland at Baltimore where she earned her degree in Physical Therapy. Having been certified in Adult Neuro- Developmental Treatment (NDT) at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), she enjoys working with patients who have motor impairments due to both neurological and musculoskeletal origin.

Prior to her 2014arrival at Rock PT, she worked in a variety of therapy settings including general outpatient population, intensive outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, as well as acute care. She was the Director of Rehabilitation Services at Laurel Regional Hospital prior to starting her family. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and currently a member of its Geriatric Section.
